This page provides information on academic affairs of SUFS which students should know.


Minimum/maximum enrolment periods

Student studying an MA course are required to register at least four semesters(two years) to complete their studies. Students can extend their period of studies up to a year if it is necessary. Those who need to re-extend their enrolment at SUFS should earn approval from the President.


Majors

Students have three majors which they can choose from in their last semester based on their graduation exam results. They have the following three options: international conference interpretation, consecutive interpretation and translation and translation.


Diploma

A diploma will be granted to students who have completed all required courses and successfully passed the graduation exam. Types of diploma are as follows: Masters in International Conference interpretation, Masters in Consecutive interpretation and Translation and Masters in Translation.


Leave of absence

Students can apply for a leave of absence in circumstances they have to miss more than a third of his/her classes in a semester for personal reasons or due to sudden illness. Application for leave of absence is limited to two times - six months each, not exceeding a year in total. Exceptional case of applying for a leave of absence on grounds of military service is not counted as leave of absence.


Graduation exam

Graduation exam applicants must have registered at SUFS for more than three semesters and should have taken at least 30 credits to be eligible to take the test. Graduation exam must be taken within two years of completing coursework; otherwise applicants will automatically be considered disqualified and thus no longer be able to apply for a graduation exam.


Graduation thesis

Graduation thesis must be written in either Korean or his/her B language. Students can apply for submitting a graduation thesis under the condition of a) fulfilling credit hour requirement for completing coursework and b) currently taking or already took a seminar course for graduation thesis.
